One of the major decisions small business owners face when setting up their new business is what they should do for their website. There are so many choices and it can get overwhelming when trying to diy your website. WordPress (.org) is a great solution because the website builder itself is free and there are many low-cost hosting options to make it a budget-friendly website. There are so many themes and plugins available for WordPress that also make it extremely customizable. Having worked with several different website builders and themes within WordPress itself, here are 5 reasons I think you should consider Kadence for WordPress.
- One of my favorite things about Kadence is that it’s a free theme that doesn’t feel free with the features you get.
- Within the WordPress appearance customizer, it’s easy to change all the colors across the site to match your brand colors. There isn’t a need to go into every text section or background and change it manually from the default color scheme.
- Also within the customizer, you can change the typography of the whole site to Google fonts or other WebSafe fonts. Since there’s a preview available, you can even change the sizes for each of the font settings (like h1, h2, etc.) to have the perfect size for your chosen fonts.
- I love the drag-and-drop header and footer builders. With up to nine sections available for the drag-and-drop widgets, it’s really easy to make your header and footer look however you want; whether that be the logo on one side or centered within the menu, or the menu bar below the logo, or virtually any layout you can think of. You can even design the desktop and mobile header/footers separately to have that additional control.
- Kadence easily integrates with the Gutenberg block builder. This turns WordPress into the drag-and-drop system that used to be a reason to go with another website builder. Kadence also comes with unique blocks and section layouts that give you even more control over what your site looks like.
Once you have WordPress installed on your website, Kadence makes it easy to create your own site. Kadence has a few options for getting your site design built. If you have a little more technical know-how or the time to learn, you could build out a site block by block from scratch. When you install Kadence on your site, you are also given the option to install their starter template plugin which gives some site templates for free!
Another option is to purchase a Kadence child theme from a designer. These are site templates that work just like the Kadence starter templates but are going to require less customizing since you can find one that matches the look you want for your website. When purchasing a child theme, you will only have to add your own content and pictures and maybe a few minor tweaks to make it your own and you’ll easily have a website that fits your vision!
The Kadence framework is quickly building a name for itself as a beginner-friendly, highly customizable WordPress theme. I’m excited to be launching new Kadence child themes that have been designed to strategically work for a variety of service providers.
